Cabo San Lucas Wedding | Sheraton Hacienda Del Mar

Have you been to Cabo lately? Come on, you know you want to! It is as beautiful as ever. With places like the Sheraton Hacienda it is more relaxing and comfortable than ever – private beach on the Sea of Cortez, gardens, two golf courses, three pools, spa, etc. Geez, It sounds like I am writing an advert for the hotel, but actually I just really LOVE Cabo San Lucas. I have been fortunate enough to photograph quite a few Mexico weddings and have grown to really like this city and also neighboring San Jose del Cabo.

Mark and Jennifer hail from fantastic Los Angeles, CA and actually found me through previous clients who got married in Mexico. They were kind enough to invite me for the entire weekend which included a condo in neighboring San Jose, rehearsal dinner at the Baja Cantina, a day at the Sheraton Hacienda, and an incredible reception party at Pancho’s Restaurant and Tequila Bar in downtown Cabo (emphasis on the ‘Tequila Bar’).

As always, in Mexico there is never a shortage of unique details to photograph and the warm light and textures add alot of richness. . .

For weddings at the Sheraton Hacienda there are two choices – beach or chapel:). Mark and Jennifer chose the beautiful on-site Mexican chapel for their ceremony and it helped make their destination wedding in Cabo feel more “Cabo-liscious.”

AAAHHHH!! Pancho’s!! Lobster and tequila! What more can I say?!?!?

This is what you get when you ask for the ‘dirtiest’ tequila in the house!! What?!?! Rattlesnakes in a 5 gallon jug, tequila served with a ladle! Warning: there are side effects. . .

Engagement | Chris and Lizzy

I get caught up in so much work during the year that not everything gets posted right away on the Hoffyblog. I keep thinking about this engagement session with Chris and Lizzy that happened a “while” ago.;)They are really special people and I am glad to have some time to post these pictures now.

Chris and Lizzy are an inspiring couple – the first time they saw each other at church there were immediate sparks. They didn’t waste any time, 20 minutes later they were sitting at the Gypsy Den in Costa Mesa having coffee and coversation. They were soon engaged, married and then went to India for 3 months to serve in small villages that lack water, education and basic health care (Harvest India). Solid people. Way to go Chris and Lizzy.

For their engagement pics, we naturally went back to The L.A.B. in Costa Mesa, home of the Gypsy Den and all kinds of other lovely places. If you like color, texture, and smiles then you may want to have your photos taken here too!

Wedding Chicks feature | Lemon and Lace

Wow, take a look at the final results of the “Modern Lemon and Lace” shoot. This beautiful concept shoot was mostly designed by Alicia at Details Details Event Planning with help from Chin-Lu at ChinnyLuLu Designs. The ideas for this shoot started from a meeting at Rancho Las Lomas, to a white board with magazine tears, and ultimately evolved into this great passion for the color yellow and the texture of lace – so the title “Lemon and Lace” was born. The list of people involved was really an A-list of Orange County wedding vendors (see below for the full list of vendors involved). Special shout out to Fayaz from Bloombox Designs who went above and beyond with “frilly ranunculus, varieties of daffodils, sweet peas, tulips, hyacinths, garden roses and a hint of anemonies.” He was the perfect florist for this styled shoot.

It turned out to be a really fun day and ultimately became a big hit online. The images were finally featured on the popular Wedding Chicks blog.

Engagement | Julie and Kraig

I like to encourage my clients to choose their engagement session locations. For me it is a fun photographic challenge and keeps me on my toes. For my clients it is perhaps something meaningful, something unique, or maybe something they always wanted to do. So in the last couple years (and you can scroll through the engagement category to check) I have taken pictures of couples at places like UCLA, Irvine Regional Park, Santa Monica Pier, San Francisco, Laguna Beach, Balboa Island, Little Italy San Diego, Manhattan Beach, Redondo Beach, Huntington Beach, UCI, CSULB, downtown Pasadena, Griffith Observatory, etc., etc., etc. FUN! FUN! FUN!

Julie and Kraig came up with a NEW surprise idea for their engagement session – the desert! Thank you for this! What a great way to put me out of my comfort zone. The desert sun was hot and high when we got there (somewhere off the 15 & 138 frwys in the Silverlake area) and it looked, well . . . like a desert.;)

We ended up having a great time and got some wonderful pictures.

Los Angeles Photographer | Kristina and Tim Engagement

I get to meet alot of couples nowadays who meet over the internet. I give kudos to the internet for bringing lots of clients my way. I have booked weddings for couples who met on eHarmony, Match, Christian Singles, and Yahoo Personals. The wedding business is booming thanks to those great sites!

But not Tim and Kristina. hahahah. If you have been following my posts, you know that I like to say that “they met the old fashioned way.” In a bar of course! Even better than that, they were both rooting for the same team – UCLA! I mean, this union was blessed from the very beginning. Tim comes from a long line of UCLA history, and Kristina graduated from UCLA not too long ago.

It was only natural then that the engagement session started at UCLA (and that Kristina would be wearing blue and yellow)! Complete fun. I have been to UCLA before for portrait sessions, but this particular day I ended up learning quite a bit. First of all, there was a home basketball game going on. No parking. Then I learned about the attack squirrels that roam the canvas. True. That’s where our afternoon begins! . . .

We had a lot more fun at UCLA but we had to leave to make it to Santa Monica Pier for sunset. After a stop at Westwood In-N-Out Burger we arrived at a very familiar landmark. . .

The Santa Monica pier area turned out to be a new favorite for me. There was a lot going on there including games, street performers, anime characters, beach and sunset.

We ended up with a lot of great pictures for Tim and Kristina’s engagement session. They came ready to have fun, ready to try some silly ideas from Hoffmann and they had a positive attitude. Two of my favorite pics from the day are next . . . you can sense a real connection between these two and can’t miss Kristina’s genuine smile. . .

My nephew Jordan came along and tested out some of his SLR video equpiment. The result was a great video montage that he put together for Tim and Kristina: Los Angeles Engagement Video. Check it out!

Kristina had her hair and make-up professionally done for the engagement session. Thanks to Amber Ayala in Los Angeles.

Kristina and Tim will be getting married at the Ruby Hill Golf Club in Pleasanton, CA.
